COOKIE POLICY

Status: 01.04.2019

We, the Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe GmbH and our subsidiaries, hereinafter collectively referred to as "Westfalenhallen", use cookies within our online offerings (e.g. on websites, in browser-based applications or in apps) as well as other technologies that can be used to collect information that we need to provide functions within our online offerings and to improve our online offerings. Some of the cookies or other technologies used require your express consent. We ask you to consent to their use so that you can make full use of all the functions provided by our online services. We are providing you with this notice to comply with our legal obligation and to inform you about which cookies are used when you use our online services and how we protect your privacy.

In this cookie policy, we refer to all technologies, including cookies, web beacons, pixels, script trackers and other programmatic client-side technologies that can be used to collect user information, explain their purpose, the scope of their use, and provide you with ways to manage and control the behavior of these technologies. In the broadest sense, cookies also include content or service offers from third-party providers, such as for the integration of videos, maps or the use of certain fonts or for the provision of administrative or other functions that are integrated into our online offers. It is always possible for these third-party providers to identify the respective user, as they require their IP address in order to provide them with their services. For reasons of consistency, all of these methods are referred to collectively as "cookies" below, unless a distinction is expressly made between individual methods.

This cookie policy refers to our online offers under the domain "westfalenhallen.de" and associated subdomains as well as to other online offers of Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe GmbH, insofar as they refer to this cookie policy. This cookie policy can be accessed, saved and printed out at any time within our online services. By using our online services, you agree that we may use cookies in accordance with this cookie policy. Further information on the use of your personal data can be found in our privacy policy.

1 What are cookies?

1.1 Cookies and other technologies are used to enable certain functions within online offers, e.g. to recognize a user, to store a user's preferences, to uniquely assign temporary process or transaction-related data to a user, to store additional security information when a user logs into his or her user account, or to collect information about the use of an online offer and to improve its use. These technologies are also used by almost all online offers to recognize whether the respective online offer has already been accessed with the same end device and the same browser in order to adapt and in some cases vary the content displayed depending on this.

1.2 Cookies and other technologies may be used by Westfalenhallen, but also by other third-party providers. This concerns content such as videos, online-based applications or analytical tools that help us to improve our online offers, as well as content that is activated depending on the user, such as clicks on "Share" buttons with which content from our online offers can be shared in social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter. This cookie policy applies equally to third-party cookies. Whether a cookie originates from a first-party provider or a third-party provider depends on the domain placing the cookie. First-party cookies are cookies that are placed by the online offers that the user visits. Third-party cookies are cookies that are placed by a domain other than the domain of the online offerings that the user visits. Third-party providers place their cookies in the first-party provider's online offerings if they provide technologies that the first-party provider uses within the online offerings or makes available to its users. Westfalenhallen has concluded order processing contracts or comparable agreements with these third-party providers in accordance with Art. 28 para. 3 GDPR.

1.3 Cookies can only be read by the online offer from which the cookie originates. Cookies are not normally used to collect personal data that is stored on your end device. Cookies are merely the key with which a connection to personal data can be established, provided that this data has been collected at all. Cookies can be classic text-based cookies, web beacons, pixels or scripts.

- Persistent cookies are stored on the end device with which our online services are used for a period of time specified in the cookie. These cookies are created on the first visit to our online services, unless browser settings prevent this, and are reactivated on each subsequent visit if this visit is made with a device on which a cookie already exists.

- Session cookies enable the operators of online offers to record the actions of a user during a browser session and to relate them to each other. A browser session begins when the browser is opened and ends when the browser is closed. Session cookies are deleted as soon as the browser is closed.

- Web beacons and pixels are files that are integrated into an online offer and are requested by the browser of the accessing user. They enable log file recording and log file analysis, which can be used for statistical evaluations. Information such as the IP address, the browser used or the operating system of the accessing system may be transmitted.

- Script trackers and other client-side programmatic technologies are small JavaScript-based programs, or programmatic content based on other technologies, which can provide functions that enable a browser to be recognized. They do not need to store any data on the accessing end device. These technologies are only used if they are supported and activated by the accessing user's browser.

1.4 Since many providers use more than one of the above-mentioned technologies, these "cookies" are summarized below according to their purpose and the assigned source domain.

2 Which cookies do we use?

2.1 Cookies are usually divided into five categories depending on their function, the technology used and their purpose: necessary cookies, analytical cookies, functional cookies, targeting cookies and flash cookies. Please refer to the following list for the different types of cookies that we may use within our online services.

2.2 Necessary cookies: Necessary cookies enable navigation within our online offers and the provision of essential functions that would not work without the use of cookies or that we could not offer in their current form without restrictions on use. This also includes the provision of specially secured areas that can receive personal user data or enable payment activities. To protect our users' data, these areas are only made available after successful user authentication. With the help of necessary cookies - as one of several methods used simultaneously - it is also ensured that the user requesting sensitive information has previously authenticated themselves successfully in order to prevent misuse of the information stored by us elsewhere. In addition, settings such as language, location and display-optimizing information such as screen resolution or buffer size can be stored. Necessary cookies are not used for advertising purposes and are also not used to collect behavior-based information about the users of our online services. To use our online services, it is necessary for you to accept essential cookies. If you do not accept necessary cookies, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to make full use of our online services and that security can be guaranteed during your visit.

2.3 Functional cookies: We use functional cookies to store user decisions that influence the behavior of our online services. With the help of functional cookies, we can offer personalized functions, such as content tailored to individual user needs. For example, we can reactivate the search filters you last used or check whether we have already drawn your attention to offers. Additional information may be stored on our systems for this purpose and linked to functional cookies. These functions help us to adapt our online offers to your individual needs and improve your user experience. It is therefore necessary for you to accept this type of cookie in order to make optimum use of our online services. If you do not accept functional cookies, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to make full use of our online services. Functional cookies can also be managed by third parties. Information on the protection of personal data for these cookies can be found on the websites of these third parties, which are named below.

2.4 Analytical cookies: Analytical cookies are used to collect information about the use of online offers. This type of cookie helps us to further improve our offers, gives us information about the behavior of our users and helps us to identify and eliminate difficulties or errors in the use of our online offers. They also enable us to evaluate the efficiency of our advertising measures and improve the quality of the advertising displayed to our users. These cookies are not linked to information that can be used to identify individual users. Analytical cookies can also be managed by third parties. Information on the protection of personal data for these cookies can be found on the websites of the third parties named below.

2.5 Targeting cookies: We or our contracted service providers may use targeting cookies to show you more relevant product information based on your interests. They also help us to improve the efficiency of our advertising campaigns. For example, we can use targeting cookies to limit the number of times you see an advertisement or to recognize when you have responded to an advertisement from us. These cookies can be used to recognize individual users and to record which information within our online offers was particularly relevant to you. This information may be passed on by us to advertisers commissioned by us and may also be linked by them with information from other sources of personal data. This also includes data collected about you when you use other online services. With these third parties, you can also control your settings and your personal preferences with regard to the collection of personal data by third parties. This means that you will no longer receive advertising that has been tailored to your needs based on the information collected about you. Please note that you must adjust your settings accordingly on each end device and for each browser with which you use our website. Even if such cookies are not used, you may still be shown advertising from us. This advertising is displayed to users in certain target group-specific environments on the Internet and is comparable to the broadcasting of television advertising: For example, if you are watching a travel magazine, you will be shown advertisements related to travel topics correspondingly more frequently during commercial breaks. If targeting cookies are managed by third parties, you will find information on the protection of personal data for these cookies on the websites of these third parties, which are listed below.

2.6 Flash cookies: So-called Flash cookies are sometimes used when embedding the Adobe Flash plug-in. These can store user settings and information about shared local resources on the accessing end device for the respective content displayed. Flash cookies may not be managed in the browser, but via other interfaces, depending on the device used. You can find more information on how to manage, deactivate or delete Flash cookies on the Adobe website. Please note that if you deactivate Flash cookies, you may no longer be able to use certain functions of our online services. You can block Flash cookies in the settings for Adobe Flash Player and in some cases directly in your browser, depending on whether the browser software you use to access our website provides this function. You can find more information here: www.adobe.com/devnet/security.html

4. cookies (or technologies) from third-party providers

4.1 The following sections provide an overview of all third-party cookies used within our online services, their origin and purpose. The integration of third-party technologies always requires that they receive the user's IP address, as the functions cannot be provided without the user's IP address. The IP address is required to provide these functions. In addition, these third-party providers may also receive further technical information, such as the browser used, the operating system and technical device information, date and duration of the visit. We endeavor to only use content whose respective providers only use the IP address to deliver the content. These third-party providers may also store text cookies on the user's device if the device allows this. User information may also be linked to information from other sources by these third-party providers.

4.2 Further information on the use of personal data collected and processed by these third-party providers within our online offers can be found in the respective data protection notices of the respective third-party providers, which are linked below. 5. services of the Google Re/Marketing Services

5.1 We use Google Re/Marketing Services to analyze and optimize our online offers. Google Marketing Services allow us to display advertisements in a more targeted manner so that they potentially correspond to the interests of users. If a user visits other websites on which advertisements are displayed using Google Re/Marketing Services, the user may be shown advertisements tailored to their interests. For these purposes, when our websites on which Google Re/Marketing Services are active are accessed, a Google code is executed, invisible graphics are integrated into the website, or comparable technologies are used. These are used to determine which websites the user has visited, what content they are interested in and which offers they have clicked on. Furthermore, metadata such as technical information on the browser and operating system as well as the user's IP address, referring websites, time of visit and other information on the use of the respective online offer are recorded. Google may also link this information about the user with information from other sources. The user data is processed by Google within pseudonymized user profiles, which are not assigned by Google to a specific person, but to a device or cookie holder. Real names or email addresses are not recorded or stored unless a user has expressly permitted Google to process this data. The information collected about users via Google Re/Marketing Services is transmitted to Google and stored in the USA. Google is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement and guarantees to comply with the provisions of European data protection law (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Actives). If you wish to object to interest-based advertising by Google marketing services, you can use the setting and opt-out options provided by Google: adssettings.google.com/authenticated.

 6. functional services from Google

6.1 We use functional services from Google in order to be able to offer the respective functions - such as maps or special programming frameworks - within our online offers. These functions are very complex, which is why we rely on a third-party provider to provide these functions economically and technologically. For these purposes, programmatic technologies ("scripts") from Google are executed when our websites on which the functional services of Google are active are called up, which serve to determine the appropriate technical parameters of the browser environment of the accessing user and to be able to play the respective content and functions adapted to the browser environment of the user. According to the above definition, these scripts are also cookies ("script trackers"). Among other things, metadata such as technical information about the browser and operating system as well as the IP address of the user, the online offer in which the function is integrated, visit time and other information about the use of the respective online offer are determined and passed on to Google. The user data collected as part of the provision of functional services is processed by Google within pseudonymized user profiles, which are not assigned by Google to a specific person, but to a device or cookie holder. Google guarantees that the information will not be used for other purposes. Real names or email addresses are not recorded or stored unless a user has expressly authorized Google to process this data.

Cookie name Google APIs

Managed by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland
Purpose Some functions of our websites depend heavily on the APIs provided by Google. These include fonts (Google Fonts), but also program libraries. Personal data may be processed to the extent necessary to provide the functionality within our websites. Google guarantees that the information will not be used for other purposes.

Cookie name Google Universal Analytics

Managed by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland
Purpose We use Google Universal Analytics within our online services. Google Universal Analytics cookies are used to collect visitor sessions and behavioral data for analytics reports. This enables us to obtain information about the use of our offers on different devices ("cross-device") and to improve the user-friendliness of our offers with the results obtained. For this purpose, pseudonymized user profiles are used that do not contain any personal data such as names or email addresses, and these are not transmitted to Google. Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate the use of our online services, to compile reports on the activities within our online services and to provide us with other services related to the use of our online services. Pseudonymous user profiles can be created from the processed data. We use Google Universal Analytics with activated IP anonymization. This means that the IP address of users is truncated by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. The IP address transmitted by the user's browser will not be merged with other Google data.

Cookie name YouTube

Managed by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland
Purpose We have integrated YouTube components into our online services. YouTube allows you to post video clips and view, rate and comment on them free of charge. By calling up one of the individual pages of our online offers on which YouTube content has been integrated, a connection to YouTube is established in order to download the necessary elements to display the corresponding video. In the process, YouTube or the operating company Google receives information about which subpage within our online services has been accessed by the respective user. In addition, further information, such as the IP address, the browser used, the operating system and technical device information, date and duration of the visit are forwarded. If the user is logged in to YouTube with the same device at the same time as visiting our online services, YouTube recognizes the user by calling up an individual page that contains a YouTube video. This takes place regardless of whether the data subject clicks on a YouTube video or not. This information can be collected by YouTube or Google and assigned to the profile of the respective user, unless the elements have been integrated in "Privacy Mode". We always use "Privacy Mode" if this is possible.

7. use of the Facebook pixel for analysis purposes

The Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe GmbH uses so-called Facebook pixels within its online offers. These are the functional components of the comprehensive web analysis service of Facebook Inc. (represented in Europe by Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland. In the following: "Facebook"). With the help of Facebook pixels, Facebook is able, among other things, to assign visitors to our online offers to a target group or several target groups for the display of advertisements. These target groups are determined from the visitors who have shown an interest in our online offers or who have certain characteristics (e.g. interests in certain topics or products). With the help of the Facebook pixel, we can also measure the effectiveness of Facebook ads and use these findings for statistical and market research purposes.

How the Facebook pixel works

The Facebook pixel is integrated into our online offers on the respective end device by reloading executable program code based on JavaScript or by reloading a single image file if the reloading of executable program code is not possible, for example if JavaScript has been deactivated in the respective browser of the accessing end device. These different types of Facebook pixels make it possible to analyze your use of our online services. As soon as one of our online offers is accessed, the Facebook pixels establish a direct connection to the Facebook servers. The information obtained by the cookies about your usage behavior is usually transferred to a Facebook server in the USA and stored there. The programmatic content of the Facebook pixel is transmitted directly to the end device used to access our online offers and is largely determined by Facebook. The information obtained using Facebook pixels is also largely determined by Facebook. The scope of the data that Facebook collects with the help of Facebook pixels can change at any time and is beyond our knowledge unless Facebook provides appropriate information about this. We therefore inform the users of our online offers according to our level of knowledge.

Analyses in relation to the efficiency of advertisements

The Facebook pixel provides extensive analysis functions. The scope of the personal and user-specific data collected by the Facebook pixel can be adapted to different content requirements. The behavior of individual users can be analyzed in detail for each online offering. This applies to any online offering in which Facebook pixels have been integrated. Facebook uses this information, among other things, to optimize the targeting of advertisements in its own advertising network and to display the corresponding advertisements only to relevant groups of recipients. For example, user behavior can be evaluated after clicking on an advertisement in a Facebook online offer or from the Facebook advertising network. Facebook can use Facebook pixels to determine, for example, whether a contract has been concluded or whether a newsletter has been subscribed to. This information provides Facebook and us with more precise information about the efficiency of advertising on Facebook. Individual ads and user behavior after a click can be linked to specific purchasing behavior or other target indicators, such as the use of other services offered. Comprehensive user profiles can be created from this data.

Merging of data from different sources and use of data for other purposes

Facebook also combines information from different sources. One of these sources is the information collected by means of the Facebook pixel about the surfing behavior of users within online offers in which the Facebook pixel is integrated. Other sources are evaluations of user behavior and interaction within Facebook, such as "Like" information, product interests, interests of people referred to as "friends" there or information from conversations with them. If you are logged in with your Facebook account on the respective end device or have been logged in in the past, the information collected can be linked to your Facebook user account so that your user behavior can be seamlessly recorded within other online offers even after you leave Facebook. Even if Facebook is not used, Facebook can still link the behavior-related information. We would like to point out that the use of such a tracking process enables the identification of users regardless of the device, as data from different end devices can also be merged with the user profile as soon as a user has logged on to the same service on both devices at least once, or as soon as a sufficient probability value has been determined based on similar user behavior and matching geodata. The purpose and scope of the data collected, as well as the further processing and other use of the data, your rights in this regard and the settings options offered to protect your privacy can be found in Facebook's privacy policy:Opens external link in new windowhttps://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.

Data transmission to Facebook

Facebook is based in the USA and therefore in a so-called "third country" in accordance with Art. 44 GDPR. Facebook is certified under the "EU-US Privacy Shield" data protection agreement, which guarantees compliance with a European level of data protection. The legal basis for the transfer and processing of your data is the existence of consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. The following data is transmitted to Facebook through the integration of the Facebook pixel within our online offers:

All data present in the HTTP headers: An HTTP header is a standard web protocol that is sent to the respective server on the Internet with every browser request. HTTP headers can contain, among other things, IP addresses, information about the web browser, pages or documents accessed, referrers and the accessing system. Further information on data in HTTP headers can be found here:Opens external link in new windowhttps://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_HTTP-Headerfelder
Pixel-specific data, such as the Facebook pixel ID and the content of Facebook pixel cookies.
Values for data events: Up to seventeen standard events can be defined for which data is collected. These are described here:Opens external link in new windowhttps://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-pixel/reference. Among other things, the accessing of subpages within the online offer can be recorded, the value of a purchase made, how many and which products have been purchased, or the duration of paid subscriptions. This data can also be used by Facebook to predict your purchasing and payment behavior and to make assumptions about your socio-economic status.
Further information on data collection by Facebook pixels can be found atOpens external link in new windowhttps://de-de.facebook.com/about/privacy/ and atOpens external link in new windowhttps://business.facebook.com/pixels/tos/ and in the terms of use for Facebook Business Tools atOpens external link in new windowhttps://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/businesstools.
Deactivating Facebook data collection

If you do not want Facebook to collect data about you within our online services, you must log out of Facebook before using our online services and delete the cookies in your browser. You must repeat this process on every device you use to access our online services. You can revoke your consent to us at any time by clicking on this link:Opens external link in new windowhttps://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads

9 How do I manage cookies?

9.1 We use cookies for various reasons mentioned above. Unfortunately, in most cases there is no standard procedure for deactivating cookies without completely disabling the functions that our online services make use of. Please note that if you block, delete or deactivate cookies, not all functions of our online services may be available.

9.2 If consent is required for the use of certain cookies, we will only use these cookies if you have given your prior consent. When you visit one of our online offers, we will add a so-called "cookie banner" with which you can confirm your consent to the use of cookies within the respective online offer by clicking on a button. By clicking on the button, you give your consent to the use of all cookies mentioned in this cookie policy. Your consent is also stored on your device in the form of a cookie ("opt-in cookie") in order to determine whether you have already given your consent when you visit our online services again. The opt-in cookie has a limited validity period of 12 months.

9.3 You can manage, deactivate and delete cookies in your browser, but also permanently prevent the acceptance of cookies. To do this, you must activate the browser function that prevents cookies from being stored and/or surf in privacy mode, depending on the browser you are using. To manage cookies, most browsers allow you to accept or reject all cookies or accept only certain types of cookies. You can find more information on managing, deactivating and deleting cookies in the help function of your browser.

9.4 General information about cookies and their handling as well as their permanent deactivation, if you generally do not want cookies, can be found on the BVDW website at: www.meine-cookies.org. For more information on cookies used for advertising purposes and how to enable them, please refer to the information provided by the Internet advertising industry on behavioral advertising and online privacy at: www.youronlinechoices.com/de/praferenzmanagement/ or www.allaboutcookies.org/ge/cookies-verwalten/.
